Surface Capacitive Technology

Surface capacitive touchscreens work by measuring electrical current changes. A transparent electrode film is placed over a glass substrate and covered with a protective layer. Voltage is applied to the corners, and when the surface is touched, it disturbs the current flow. The controller then calculates the touch position.

Main applications: gaming devices and some industrial controls
Typical light transmission: 80% or higher

Key features:

• Superior image clarity and brightness

• Excellent resistance to scratches and surface contaminants (e.g., dust, oil, water droplets)

• Operates only via bare fingers or a stylus that conducts electricity

• Sensitive to EMI/RFI, requiring advanced controllers for noise filtering

• Moderate durability and limited resolution
