How does a touch screen work?

As we all know,there have two type of touch screen: Resistive touch screen and capacitive touch screen.Let me make some simple conclusion about what they are?

• Resistive touch screen: Resistive touch screen commonly known as soft touch screen,it is divided into three layers in structure.the inner layer is glass, the outer layer is thin film and the adjacent side of thin film and glass i coated with ITO( Indium Tin Metal Oxide).Resistive touch screen can be divided into 4 wire,5 wire,7 wire or 8 wire touch screen.but how does resistive touch screen panel work?Actually,the resisitive touch screen is a sensor.When the resistive touch screen is operated,two layers of film and glass will collide with each other, and the current will have an impact.The chip will evaluate which position of touch screen is under pressure based on the data between the calculated force for the current and react. It is also because the resistive touch screen is force touch, so it causes the resistive touch screen only just can support one touch point.It is difficult to achieve multi touch points. And it also make resistive touch screen mostly used in harsh industrial environment where there is a lot of dust, large temperature differences and operation with gloves.
  

• Capacitive touch screen: The capacitive touch screen is a four-layer composite glass screen. The inner surface and the inter layer of the glass screen are each coated with a layer of ITO. The outermost layer is a thin layer of silica glass protective layer. The inter layer ITO coating is used as the working surface, and the four corners are led out Four electrodes, the inner layer of ITO is a shielding layer to ensure a good working environment. When a finger touches the metal layer, due to the electric field of the human body, a coupling capacitor is formed between the user and the surface of the touch screen. For high-frequency current, the capacitor is a direct conductor, so the finger draws a small current from the contact point. This current flows from the electrodes on the four corners of the touch screen, and the current flowing through these four electrodes is proportional to the distance from the finger to the four corners. The controller calculates the position of the touch point by accurately calculating the ratio of these four currents.

All right, Dingtouch have many items capacitive touch screen panel with ilitek or EETI controller board. After you buy touch screen, how to connect the touch screen panel with the controller board?Maybe as a senior engineer,that’s very easy for you.But as a novice,it;s a little confusing.how to connect touch screen with controller board and then let it work?

1. When you received the goods,please confirm that the goods are intact and undamaged.

2. Connect the FPC flexible cable and controller board Pin,please check they are they exactly fit each other

3. Connect the usb cable to controller board

4. Connect the usb into computer or your device and then can test the touch performance

Sometimes, some customer will connect the touchscreen and controller board together, and then the touch screen is not working.How to solve this problem?

Please check whether you connect well between with touch screen and controller board.If they are connect well, but still doesn’t work.Please use another controller board to connect the touch panel.If it work perfectly.And it’s proved that maybe the controller board have a problem.Then you can contact with us directly:    We will send you the sensor test firmware.

How to test the sensor test?Please follow the indication as follow:

1. Find the ILITEK “sensorTest.exe” this test tool

2. Double click the” Sensor Test” tool icon on the desktop to open the test software interface

3. Click “ Configuration File” on the software interface to find the corresponding configuration file with Suffix of xxx.dat , double click or click open to import

4.After the configuration file is imported successfully, click “start test” and the software will automatically detect the consistency of product, until PASS appears ,it means the tested product is a good product.If it appears NG, Pls send us the LOG data,let our engineer know what’s problem
